Seven Weeks
Today I’m happy I’m making enough progress I was able to ski and hike again but also feeling sore and a little disappointed that I’m still not completely pain free. I know Dr. Cohen said to expect this up and down and be patient for 6-12 months. But it’s still hard. I have been thinking…

Six week update
Wow. It’s amazing to consider that this week is my six week milestone. I’m getting around really well and have less and less pain everyday. I’ve been biking, swimming, hiking, elliptical running and working out with weights. Plus stretching and Yoga plus doing lots of pushups and situps so feeling stronger and healthier every day.…

Steady Progress
Four weeks today. I’m excited to be making steady progress. The doctor said I’m doing outstanding for this early in the recovery. He said to expect continued improvement for up to 18 months and that they don’t generally see much progress for 3 to 8 months after implant so this is all really good news. I’ve been…

Day 11 Post Op
Today it’s been 11 days since my stem cell implant.  For the first time I really feel like I turned a major corner. I was able to walk around the neighborhood here in Santa Maria, California for 30 minutes with no pain. I was strolling along like years ago without pain being a part of every…

Beginning Physical Rehabilitation
On Sunday, four days post-op, I began physical rehab at Western Village Health Center in Santa Maria, California. The doctor has released me to walk about 60 minutes a day, swim and ride a stationary bike. Having access to a fitness center that provides all of those amenities makes this a delight. On my first day…

Stem Cell Harvest Day
Wednesday, Â January 18, 2017 At 12 pm I took a dose of Valium and hydrocodone and then at 1 pm I was checked into the Healthlink Medical Center in Oceanside, California for my bilateral hip rebuild. This started with a harvest of bone marrow from my iliac crest. A local anesthesia was used to numb…

Stem Cell Harvest eve
Well it’s now the night before my stem cell harvest and implant. I have been fortunate to be here in Oceanside, CA making this journey. Not too many other places like this on earth. I’ve been through this before yet still I’m a little anxious about it but also feeling optimistic. And grateful that this…

Preparing for Stem Cell Treatment
Things are looking up from my perspective. I have been working hard to prepare for my stem cell treatment set for January 16th. I have been biking, hiking, swimming, and amazingly, I actually skied two days. I’m so happy that I opted to cancel the hip replacement in December and try this path. It’s not…

Stemcell
After traveling to Tennessee to play with my grandchildren and doing so well I’ve realized that it really does make better sense to talk with Dr. Cohen at Healthlink Medical Clinic before I take the drastic step of replacing my hip. I called and now know that this is the route I want to try…

Surgery
In August I made the decision that it was time to consider joint replacement. I had reached a point I couldn’t pick up my right knee and my leg hurt constantly. But that was before Qi Gong and Goldenmilk. Now the idea seems ludicrous. I’m walking better, have less and less pain and feel like…
