Tomorrow I will turn 60 and I’m happy to report I have been making progress toward my goal of being fit and healthy in this new decade. I have been sticking with the Cross Fit and can definitely feel the changes taking place. My arms are actually firming up and taking shape and I felt my waist again for the first time in too long. It feels good and so much of the pain I’ve been suffering with is melting away. I’ve been out running the trails around my house, jumping on my trampoline again and playing on the equipment at the playground across the street. Amazing to think just six months ago I could barely pick up my left leg and my entire body ached.

I’ve come to understand one of the reasons was because of the food I was eating. I’ve always

thought I had a pretty good diet but until I kept track of everything I was putting in my mouth and figured out the actual calorie, carbs, fat and protein content, I really didn’t know.

After just two days I was shocked by the amount of sugar, salt and chemicals hidden in common, packaged food. It’s horrifying. And when you start looking up what these things like high fructose corn syrup, “partially hydrogenated” or diglycerides actually are, it’s even more frightening. No wonder we have a society of overweight, diabetic, unhealthy people.

So I’m working hard to make better food choices by sticking with raw, unprocessed food and hoping my garden can help me reverse the damaging effects and improve my health. So far it seems to be working 🙂 I have less pain and inflammation than in years. YEAH. Grow on for happy, healthy 60’s.
