OR 201401

Well it’s been three weeks since I set out on my latest adventure to attend the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake. I got to visit friends in Elephant Butte Lake, NM where Heni lived when he was Fin.  And then we headed north to Pagosa Springs, CO where my friend Mike lives and I own a small cabin. 20140128_113250_resizedMike let Henri and I camp in his front yard and we had fun soaking at the hot springs, hiking and exploring the area.

Then it was off to Salt Lake. I left Henri in Colorado and traveled by car to save time and fuel expenses. Figured out the hotels and fuel were about the same and having a car meant a lot less walking. I still overdid it and have been pretty sore since the show ended and I made it back to Henri.  I walked at least four hours outside the first day, another 8-hours through the Salt Palace the second day and finally had to wrap it upon Thursday after about 6-hours.  Nothing a few hours in a hot springs swimming pool won’t fix.

All in all I’m getting around well and feeling good but enjoyed having time to slow down and heal. I collected some great stories and look forward to sharing them with you in the next week. From fun toys that help you rehabilitate from or avoid future injuries, a dime-sized tablet that can keep you healthy and alert while traveling in remote areas and a new avalanche airbag that can be deployed multiple times on a single outing and doesn’t require a non-ship-able cartridge.

Stay tuned for lots more.
